Reppin the TCs at ITx 2018
So, it’s now four weeks since the ITx conference and I think I’ve finally recovered. My hangover’s gone too but I still have some blisters from our dancefloor antics.
Of course it wasn’t all boozing and glamour. We did some work too. It really was an amazing experience and I’m thrilled that we got to be a part of this amazing conference. I know we left our mark and I get the feeling we’ll be welcome back next time!
Key highlights for me:
- The super hard work put in by our organising team, especially Kaye Churches who worked so hard to organise some wonderful speakers (including Keynote Doug Kim), sort out the booth, and just generally keep us all in line. Thank you so much Kaye!
- Having nearly all the Board around for all or part of the conference, and getting to know them all a bit better over the four days.
- Doug Kim. What more can I say? He’s not only an engaging, enthusiastic, and entertaining speaker but he is a huge supporter of TechCommNZ and really loves New Zealand. And we love you Doug!
- The conference dinner. So glamorous. So much food. Dancing. Wine. Rowdy TCs causing mischief and being rather loud….
- Seeing the sessions at our little conference stream packed out with TCs and non-TCs, and listening to some really great presentations (although I did wish we’d allowed everyone more than 30 minutes).
- Being part of the awards judging panel and seeing the strong calibre of all the nominees, but also seeing the three finalists speaking so passionately about technical communication in their final interviews. The other judges were really impressed.
- Getting to be part of the judging panel for the Excellence Health Innovation Award. I was awed by the amazing projects and endeavours by these nominees.
- Getting heaps of great ideas to use for our next conference - Tauranga 2019.
Let’s do it all again in 2020. Whose in?
