About the opportunity

Due to some exciting new projects and growth with-in our team, we are currently looking for a Technical Author to join an already established technical communications team. You will work alongside experienced mechanical, electrical and software engineers, to create and maintain user-friendly content for our customers. The main purpose to this position is to produce and maintain documentation in product manuals of all our water jets and control systems. This will encompass developing written content and technical illustrations for distribution across both print and online channels.

What you will bring

You will have:

  • A graduate diploma of Information Design (GDID) or other relevant tertiary qualification, with a minimum of four years' experience would be preferential for this role.
  • Experience in product manual writing in a manufacturing organisation, with low to medium volume industrial products or capital equipment.
  • Proficiency in using technical authoring tools such as Author-it, Flare, Arbortext or FrameMaker.
  • Familiarity with technical illustration packages (such as the Adobe suite).
  • A good understanding of mechanical and electronic engineering.
  • Experience with customer focussed problem solving.
  • Relevant skills in Information Content Authoring (INCA Level 4 https://sfia-online.org/en/sfia-8/skills/content-authoring).
