About the opportunity

Looking for a new way to use your technical communication skills? Want to make the world a better place through clear communication? If you’re determined to change the world through clear, powerful communication, Write in Wellington needs to hear from you.

We're looking for an experienced training professional who understands that high-quality writing contributes enormously to organisational success. Are you (in equal parts):

  • a brilliant facilitator, trainer, coach, ‘people person’, trusted consultant, and tech-savvy communicator
  • a proven advocate for content that’s beautifully clear, focused, and effective — and expert at creating it?

You’ll carry out your role in keeping with Write’s mission, values, strategic direction, brand, and culture — as well as our B Corp goals to have a positive impact in the world. Get in touch if you fit the description above, and are ready to help our clients achieve their organisational and personal goals using the power of words for good. You’ll love helping organisations in all sectors, and their employees, get more value from the time they spend writing. In particular, you’ll thrive on designing and delivering face-to-face and online workshops that make a difference to our clients. You’ll also enjoy creating ‘how-to’ videos and other helpful resources.

Some core aspects of the role include:

  • working with our relationship managers and with clients to identify client needs and opportunities, then developing innovative, high-quality training solutions
  • providing effective follow-up services to support clients’ ongoing success
  • creating videos, elearning, and other products that help people learn about clear communication in bite-sized chunks
  • using in-house systems, models, and frameworks for planning, delivery, and accountability.

The role is based in our central Wellington office, but you’ll enjoy working onsite at client organisations and travelling to other places in New Zealand. We’re a friendly, inclusive, flexible workplace. We take pride in caring for each other and valuing our colleagues’ unique qualities and skills. We have a learning culture and regularly share what we know, both informally and in our internal professional development sessions.

Our ideal candidate has:

  • excellent spoken and written communication skills
  • sound understanding of instructional design
  • an enthusiasm for new technology and experimentation
  • a world view that is inclusive, generous, respectful, and curious
  • a consultative and collaborative approach
  • a growth mindset and a can-do attitude
  • spectacular organisational and time-management skills
  • a business focus — you’ll make a difference to our clients’ bottom line, and our own.

Experience in designing, creating, and delivering elearning and blended learning programmes would be an advantage.

Our mission

Our mission is to help organisations and individuals get more value from their daily investment in business communication. We believe in using business as a force for good, and became a certified B Corp earlier this year. We’re looking for a person who believes in what we do. And we want someone who embodies our values of:

  • care
  • energy
  • expertise
  • insight
  • integrity.

We foster a workplace where our team members feel valued, supported, and respected — a place where they can achieve to their full potential. We value having a diverse mix of people on our team. We're keen for vibrancy, languages, cultures, experiences, and abilities that add to our expertise as a team and help diversity of thought and ideas to flourish. We welcome applications from all communities. If we can do anything to accommodate you during the recruitment or interview process, please let us know by emailing jonathan@write.co.nz.
