Christchurch Branch Event: ​Bringing augmented and virtual reality to learning

If you’re curious about the role of augmented reality (AR) or virtual reality (VR) in education, come to Streamliners on 16 May to hear a local expert explain and demonstrate its potential to change the way we impart information. Sakthi Ranganathan will be presenting an overview of these technologies and their application to teaching and learning. You'll get to experience virtual reality first-hand by trying VR headsets and other devices that Sakthi will provide. Be excited, immersed, inspired!

About the speaker

Sakthi Priya Balaji Ranganathan is the Founder and CEO of JIX Ltd. (Joyful Immersive Experience), and has also recently been working as a graphic designer for CORE Education.

With an educational background in computer science, engineering, graphic design, and human-computer interaction, Sakthi specialises in creating intuitive digital experiences using user-centred design principles and research. He will be launching JIX, his tech start-up, at the MagnifyWorld conference in Auckland in early May.

The Canterbury District Health Board has funded Sakthi’s Masters research project – interactive AR medical animation – in the Human Interface Technology Lab at Canterbury University. He is also currently working on a few other AR/VR projects for various clients. Some of his digital experience projects have featured at Ulearn 16, the annual educator's conference. Sakthi has also been a tech demo presenter at the Singularity New Zealand Summit.
