We're going ahead with tiered Corporate Memberships

April 2021

You may recall that the TechCommNZ board proposed a change to the Corporate Membership structure at the 2019 AGM. The change was approved, but in light of the lockdown last year we decided to postpone the change.

We’re pleased to put the events of last year behind us and will go ahead with the changes for the financial year starting 1 July 2021.

Some history

Up to now, corporates have paid the same membership fee whether they had four technical communicators or 100.

After discussion with member representatives from our corporates, including Allied Telesis, Streamliners and Airways, we proposed a change to bring us in line with international groups like STC and ISTC, who use a bronze/silver/gold structure for business affiliates.

We discussed what our corporates considered a reasonable price and came up with the figure of $2000+ for the highest tier. We agreed that organisations with up to 10 technical communicators should not have to pay extra.

We decided a four-tier structure was most fair and reasonable for our corporate members.

The change was put to vote at the 2019 AGM at Conference Tauranga and was unanimously voted yes!

What this means for you

From 1st July 2021, Corporate Memberships will be tiered:

  • L1 – organisations with up to 10 technical communicators – $690.00.
  • L2 – organisations with 11 to 15 technical communicators – $1150.00.
  • L3 – organisations with 16 to 20 technical communicators – $1725.00.
  • L4 – organisations with more than 20 technical communicators – $2300.00.

Please note that the amounts shown are GST inclusive and are for a full 12 months and will be pro-rated on a monthly basis throughout the year, from 1st July to 30th June.

For all new Corporate Memberships, a one-time joining fee of $57.50 will also be added onto the invoice.

If you have an individual or student membership, there will be no change.
