April 2019

Meredith Evans

Kia ora and Happy April to everyone!

I hope those of you with school-age kids are looking forward to the school holidays. I’m just excited that with all the public holidays falling in the holidays it means the childcare logistical nightmare is hugely reduced this year. I’m sure by August, I’ll be cursing all those public holidays being squashed into April, and hanging out for the next one to come around.

You’re going to start hearing A LOT more about the conference from now until October (possibly longer) from me and from Kaye. The conference is such an important event for TechCommNZ as it gets us all together to learn, socialise, and be inspired. I’m so excited about this year’s conference. The venue’s gorgeous, I know the food and drink will be top quality, and we already have some excellent international speakers confirmed. I really hope to see heaps of you in Tauranga in October.

Apart from conference, we’ve been busy organising and hosting webinars and workshops. Patrick Hofmann from Google returns this month to teach us about graphics and design, and we’ve got more webinars and workshops planned for May onward. And the branches continue to offer a varied selection of events. We’re still looking for a Wellington branch coordinator though, so if you’ve got a few hours to spare a month and you’re keen to help get in touch with Jane ( jane.armstrong@core-ed.ac.nz) who can give you more information.

That’s all from me this month. Enjoy the rest of the newsletter and feel free to get in touch with me if you have feedback or ideas.
