TechCommNZ Webinar: KISS - Keep It Simple and Straightforward: Writing for translation

Is your audience all native English speakers with a high level of literacy? Do you have some readers with English as a second or foreign language? Are you going to be translating your content into other languages? The most critical element to successful translation is clear, consistent, quality source text.

This session highlights many elements that will help you edit your text for successful translation, with the added benefit of creating better content for your source language readers.

Learning outcomes

You will learn:

  • The basic principles of grammar and style to consider for translation
  • What to consider when choosing terminology
  • How to use images and colours appropriately and with cultural sensitivity.

The costs for this webinar are:

  • Affiliate members incl ASTC and NZATD - $50 plus GST

About the presenter

Kirsty Taylor lives in Brisbane, Australia, where she’s been working in internationalisation and technical communication teams for global software companies. Kirsty works for RPM Global as the Manager of Product Internationalisation; RPM creates software for the global mining industry.

Kirsty’s spent most of her career helping others get the most out of their enterprise or business software, writing and editing for audiences working anywhere from Siberia to outback Australian mines, from Defence forces on deployment to city offices! She is an advocate for clear, simple, and direct communication.

Kirsty currently serves as the Secretary on the STC Board of Directors.
