Webinar - CSS Variables: The Real Thing

The variables feature (proper name: custom properties) in CSS has been proposed, spec'd out, implemented, abandoned, revised, ignored, third-partied, and -- finally! -- implemented per W3C standards by most modern browsers. Although it is a hugely useful and flexible feature, there has been no true cross-browser support until recently. This session explains not just how but why to use variables in your CSS, without resorting to non-standard syntax, pre-processors, or (gasp!) command-line utilities.

You will learn:

  • What are CSS variables and what are they used for?
  • Why are CSS variables such an important feature?
  • How does the standardized implementation work?
  • How can you use variables to your advantage?
