The Company

Uniquely positioned as part of a highly successful global company, Datamars New Zealand has responsibility for a broad range of market leading product solutions encompassing Fencing, Electronic Weighing, Milk Meters and RFID reading systems, Domestic and Livestock Animal Tag categories that are vital to the agricultural community.

The role

Are you curious about new technologies, have an inquiring mind and high attention to detail? At Datamars in Mt Wellington you will have the opportunity to flex your technical writing muscles and work with our Technical Communications Manager to produce high-quality technical product documentation and online help.

The person

We are seeking a focused and analytical person to help us create user-friendly and engaging technical documentation. Your superb attention-to-detail will see you working on producing user guides and language translations for our core products, as well as how-to instructions in our online help tool. Confidence to communicate at all levels to work collaboratively within the business along with your ability to explain technical concepts into simple, clear writing for the intended audience is the primary reason why you'd be successful in this role. Your outputs will include: user guides, technical bulletins, service manuals, on-line help instructions and translations.

Skills and experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in English, Communications or suitable equivalent qualification with a focus on technical writing
  • 5 years proven experience in a technical writing role
  • Excellent English written and verbal skills
  • Time management, planning and organisation skills
  • Ability to grasp complex technical concepts and make them understandable through imagery and text
  • At least 2 years' experience working with Author-IT content management software
  • Comfortable working with translated content
  • Strong Microsoft Word knowledge
  • Comfortable working with graphics in Adobe Illustrator, Snagit or equivalent
  • Strong work ethic and professionalism.
