Due to the large ERP implementation project, we are looking for a fixed term Technical Writer for 15 months.

As Technical Writer you will be responsible for developing documentation and training material for an enterprise software implementation project of an ERP system. You will work closely with business analysts and subject matter experts to understand and document processes, and extract procedures for end user training and support. You will own the content and training experience for end users, so you need to be empathetic to their needs and have a strong sense of the change it imposes.

The role

The project is close to the design stage, and we need a Technical Writer to join the team and get started with planning the content approach. You will collaborate with SMEs, Project teams, Business Analysts etc. to assess and analyse user training requirements, design learning outcomes and develop content. You will develop materials from scratch and be involved in content support for the change management, strategy and implementation of processes as well. Most importantly, you need to be proactive, flexible and willing to think outside of the box to develop the best solutions for the business.

About you

To be successful in this position, you should have:

  • Relevant Tertiary qualification
  • 5-7+ years’ experience as a technical writer, including some training or instructional design exposure.
  • Domain knowledge of enterprise software implementation projects (such as SAP systems)
  • Experience creating, organising and managing content from scratch
  • Well-developed knowledge of publishing processes in a variety of tools
  • Understanding of software development and support activities
  • Demonstrable understanding of content strategy and content delivery design
