Christchurch Branch Event – Recruiting Technical Communicators

Join your TechCommNZ colleagues for an evening with IT recruitment specialist Thomas Liberty. We'll be discussing technical communicator recruitment from the perspective of employers and job applicants.

Thomas will present the ' liquid workforce' as a precursor to a conversation about what makes a good TC, and what a TC does (without getting bogged down in industry-specific knowledge or examples). Are we more employable and useful as a repository of specialist knowledge, or as a collection of aptitudes and abilities? How do we remain relevant as technology continues to change faster and faster?

By working with us to clarify the general job requirements and responsibilities which a technical writer would normally fulfil, Thomas plans to compile:

  • a guide for companies seeking to employ a technical communicator, and
  • a Person Specification which matches aptitudes and capabilities against the responsibilities and explains why they are important.

We hope to share the results with TechCommNZ members. Come and be part of the conversation!
