Auckland Workshop - Content Strategy in a Day

with Rahel Anne Bailie

Every company has a content strategy, whether they know it or not – sometimes, it’s just more explicit than others. A content strategy ensures that your projects work toward fulfilling the needs of both your business and its customers.

In this one-day intensive workshop, learn how to develop and deliver a content strategy, including how to:

  • make the business case for investing in content
  • develop a strategic content plan
  • leverage content in compelling ways
  • identify and prepare core deliverables of a content strategy.

You’ll also get templates to take away, preparing you to put your knowledge to use as soon as you get back to the office. Bailie will focus specifically on advice for those creating and managing technical content.

Course overview

Concepts

About 25% of the course will be devoted to understanding the theory behind content strategy. Participants will:

  • learn what components go into an integrated content strategy
  • examine how to bring out the “strategy” of your content strategy, and make it count with project sponsors
  • dissect the content life-cycle and match it to deliverables
  • work through the methodology for the discovery phase
  • summarise typical deliverables, mapped to phases.

Application

The remainder of the workshop will be practical. Participants will:

  • work through a case study that shows how to sequence the core activities
  • create core deliverables using the templates provided
  • look at decisions and select extended deliverables
  • understand how to connect back-end to front-end content needs
  • overview technical considerations of a content strategy.

Who it’s for

This course is for you if you’re:

  • a seasoned communication professional – and you want to move into a content strategy role
  • a content professional – and you want to round out your skill set so you can take on more complex projects
  • a senior manager – and you want to be able to make good decisions during a content strategy project.

How it works

The course is taught by Rahel Anne Bailie, a seasoned content strategist with extensive experience in both technical communication and marketing settings. Rahel delivers the course in workshop format. That means you get the theoretical background, with plenty of practice so you learn how to apply it through hands-on exercises and related activities.
