Webinar: Google Analytics - Advanced

Session overview

Google Analytics is arguably the most well-known web-statistics package - and it's free! It has many great features for e-commerce sites and marketers. However, these features are sometimes completely useless for information-based websites that are not selling anything and which may be hidden from the public view.

This is the second in the series of two webinars on Google Analytics to be presented by Graeme Wilson from Streamliners Ltd.

This second webinar is a suitable follow-on from the basic webinar or for users with some previous experience in using Google Analytics. Some advanced features may need technical knowledge to implement.

He will focus on the features that may be useful for technical communications websites, especially where there may not be identifiable goals for user behaviour (e.g., nothing is being sold) and where there is no traffic from search engines. He will be using the HealthPathways websites as a case study for how to get the most from Google Analytics when only a limited number of basic features can be used.

He won't be covering e-commerce topics such as goals and conversions. Instead, he will focus on statistics that may be useful for reporting to stakeholders and understanding user actions.

The second webinar will cover:

  • Creating shortcuts, dashboards, and custom reports
  • Annotating reports to track potentially significant events
  • Campaign tracking
  • Custom dimensions
  • Segments
  • Event tracking (clicks on external links)
  • Questions and answers
