Christchurch Branch Event - Birthing an intranet - how we used online tools for a user-centred information design

Christchurch Branch Event

Streamliners had recently grown so large that telepathy and eavesdropping were no longer sufficient for transmitting news around the office. After an all-staff brainstorming session, we found the solution - a shiny, new Streamliners intranet called SATCHMO.

Adrienne Sidal and Claire Nicholson then volunteered to mould Satchmo's soul, his purpose, and his personality – to be approachable, informative, and collaborative. Their brief was to make sure end users were involved at every stage of Satchmo’s development.

Hear how Adrienne and Claire used online tools like Survey Monkey to give Satchmo his name, Optimal Workshop’s card sorting and tree jacking tools to build Satchmo's skeleton, and DotNetNuke to form Satchmo's skin, as well as the off-line tools of cake and fake mo-staches to celebrate Satchmo’s birth.
