And our President, Meredith, brings you the results of our 'future of TechCommNZ' survey and outlines what our Board have planned to address some of the comments.
From the President
Kia ora and Happy April to everyone! You're going to start hearing A LOT more about the conference from now until October (possibly longer) from me and from Kaye. The conference is such an important event for TechCommNZ as it gets us all together to learn, socialise, and be inspired. Apart from conference, we've been busy organising and hosting webinars and workshops. And the branches continue to offer a varied selection of events.
Future and Direction of TechCommNZ Survey Results
Earlier this year, TechCommNZ sent out a short survey to our mailing list. We wanted to get opinions on how we're doing as an organisation, how we can better meet the needs of our members, and what other sorts of things we could be offering. This article briefly summarises the results of this survey and outlines what our Board have planned to address some of the comments.
Check out the Conference Programme!
We're thrilled and excited to announce our programme and open registrations this month on our conference website! We'll let you know by email the day this happens, so be ready!
Power up your support team to create better documentation
Software support teams are in a tough spot. They know documentation is important, and they love to refer customers to it, but finding time to actually write and maintain those documents is really hard. That endless support queue and its ceaseless demand for attention means that documentation is too often ignored. Mat shares his hard-earned practical advice to help technical writers and support team knowledge base owners create a more effective documentation system. Steve Moss sums up Mat Paterson's excellent webinar.
Let's Tech Communicate
Personally, I love Slack. It's convenient, quirky, and colourful. I can access it on my phone and laptop. It's a great way to get to know colleagues outside my immediate circle (or city!) and I think it really helps us build a sense of community within our industry. But don't let the name fool you! We're not just slacking off – the TechCommNZ Slack channel is a hub of information, hot tips, and interesting reads as well as witty commentary. This month, I decided to dive in and do a bit of channel-surfing for Let's Tech Communicate. For those of you not on Slack, here's what our Slack-users are reading. For those of you who are, here's what you might have missed!
