Welcome to TechCommNZ

The Technical Communicators Association of New Zealand seeks to:

  • Provide ongoing support and professional development for technical communicators in New Zealand
  • Maintain and extend a collegial network for members
  • Gain wider recognition of the role of technical communication in New Zealand organisations
  • Foster strong relationships with tertiary training providers of technical communication in New Zealand.

Our members are typically involved in producing online or paper-based documentation, instructional videos, screencasts, interactive training resources, and other information design products.

History

The New Zealand Technical Writers Association (NZTWA) was formally established in Auckland in 1997 by a group of technical writers who had been meeting informally for some time. To reflect the fact that our members have a broader role in information design than “just” writing, the name was changed in August 2002 to the Technical Communicators Association of New Zealand (TCANZ).

In June 2015, the organisation changed its brand name from TCANZ to TechCommNZ.
